Definition of acute bronchitis

Acute bronchitis is usually caused by a viral infection of the bronchi, often the result of a flu or a cold winter, in a smoky or when air pollution. Bronchitis occurs suddenly and lasts only a few days, hence its name bronchitis Acute versus chronic bronchitis.

Causes of Acute Bronchitis

Virus-bronchitis Acute bronchitis is usually caused by a virus. In rare cases, bronchitis is caused by bacteria, is known as more bacterial superinfection with serious consequences such as pneumonia.
- An acute bronchitis is often the consequence or complication of the flu or a cold.
- Smoking (active and passive) and high air pollution can also promote the development of acute bronchitis.
