HemophiliaWhat is hemophilia?

Hemophilia is a genetic disorder linked to chromosome X that is the difficulty of the blood to clot properly. It is characterized by the appearance of internal and external bleeding due to partial deficiency of a clotting protein called antihemophilic globulin (clotting factor).

Clotting factors are a group of proteins responsible for activating the clotting process operating in cascade, ie one drives to the next and if it is deficient of one of them, there is no coagulation or is delayed much. Therefore, the blood is not consistent and does not form a good plug to stop bleeding. In severe hemophiliacs, even small injuries can cause numerous and fatal blood loss.

The main symptoms of this disorder are:

- Extensive bruising.

- Bleeding into muscles and joints, particularly knees, ankles and elbows.

Recognize the signs of anemia

Thursday, January 7th, 2010

AnemiaAnemia is characterized by a decrease in hemoglobin in the blood. Depending on the severity of form, this translates into different symptoms, most features are tiredness and some pallor.

Anemia
If the causes of anemia are varied, it is generally expressed by pallor and tiredness
Lately, you feel particularly tired, exhausted, no energy? It never ceases to remind you that you have a small mine, you’re a little pale? This may be a simple drop in form is temporary but it may also be anemic. To find a single solution, consult a doctor with a simple blood test, can diagnose, if any, anemia.

But what is it exactly that anemia? It is the state in which the body is found when the hemoglobin in the blood is greatly reduced. However, it is the hemoglobin molecules in red blood cells that carries oxygen to all organs of the body. When their concentration is reduced, blood can not carry the necessary oxygen to tissues. Anemia

What is anemia?

Anemia is a common blood disorder that occurs when red blood cells is below normal or when the blood hemoglobin concentration is low.

* Hemoglobin – blood element whose function is to distribute oxygen from the lungs to body tissues.

* Hematocrit – the measurement of the percentage of red blood cells are in a specific volume of blood.

Often, anemia is a symptom of a disease rather than a disease itself, and usually develops due to the presence of one of these factors:

* Excessive blood loss or hemorrhage
* Insufficient production of red blood cells
* Excessive red blood cell destruction
* Decreased production and excessive destruction of red blood cells
