Menopause, in search of a better quality of life

menopauseMenopause should not be regarded as a disease, but has a number of accompanying symptoms such as hot flashes, which can become very annoying.

1. Introduction
Quality of life. Women live longer than men, but worse. Through the ages has been observed worldwide that more people live longer.

This is because, among other things, the development of vaccines and antibiotics, can prevent and cure diseases in the past used to be fatal to the improvement of sanitary conditions, to the evolution of medical knowledge of the diseases and the development of new drugs.

Moreover, particularly regarding women, also to the improvement of care to pregnant women (prenatal care) and delivery. Europe has the highest proportion of older women in the world. In 2010, in Europe, one in four women will be over 60 years. Spain stands out in this picture of apparent aging of the population. The number of people over 65 is about the nearly 6 million, representing about 15% of the total Spanish population.

Moreover, recent studies reveal that life expectancy of the Spanish population at birth is around 73 years for males and more than 81 years in the case of women. Therefore, women live longer than men (about 8 years). However, these studies also indicate that women living in poorer health than men.
